The beaches of Le Marche

Imagine soft sand between your toes, the sound of waves gently breaking on the beach and the warm sun caressing your skin. The beaches of Grottammare, Cupra Marittima and Porto San Giorgio, among others, offer this, and more.

Grottammare

The beach of Grottammare adjoins a promenade with beautiful Art Deco villas, walk or bike quietly along it, it is next to the old village, which you can see when floating on an air mattress in the sea, absolutely one of the most beautiful in the this region. The sandy coastline slopes very gradually into the sea, with wave action limited by basalt blocks a little further out to sea. Grottammare beach is definitely recommended for families with children. Perfect for a relaxing day by the sea.

Cupra Marittima

Just below Porto San Giorgio is the smaller and quieter resort of Cupra Marittima with a fine sandy beach. If you like to seek peace and quiet, this is the ideal place. Looking for a good restaurant? Head to Koko Beach where you can eat surprising culinary seafood dishes in a modern setting.

Porto San Giorgio

In Porto San Giorgio you will find vast beaches with cozy beach bars where, for example, you can chill out and drink an aperitivo on the swing at the cozy beach bar Nomad. Appetite? You can have a great meal at the beach café Il Cozzaro Nero where you can eat fish with your bare feet in the sand in a casual way after your beach day. A blissful end to the day.

Cossignano, pure Italian charm

Cossignano, a small town in the Le Marche region of Italy, is a hidden gem, we cannot say otherwise. With its medieval charm and beautiful location amidst the hills, Cossignano is an authentic Italian experience.

Stroll the streets, find the street sign Donna Orgila, just like one of the labels of the wine of our upstairs neighbor Fiorano, with centuries-old architecture and enjoy the panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. Meet the locals at Cafe San Paolo or Osteria Castello de Marte, for example, where you can enjoy delicious local dishes and local wines.

Whether you are looking for history, culture, a good meal or just want to stroll around such a typical Italian town, Cossignano does not disappoint.

Multiple natural parks

The scent of wild flowers and herbs, the characteristic olive trees and vineyards and gurgling waterfalls among the trees: that is Le Marche. This region is a real hiking area, with several natural parks with rich flora and fauna.

The Sibillini Mountains

You can hike, bike and enjoy unspoiled nature in the Sibillini Mountains. Tip: Grab the car and just drive around to explore the charming medieval villages, where you can enjoy local delicacies such as fragrant salamis and prosciutto tagliare a mano.

Monte Conero

You can see Monte Conero immediately as you drive along the A14 to us. Should you come by plane, if the weather is nice, you can see Monte Conero well from the window in the plane; indispensable. Recommended is to take a boat early in the morning to the beautiful beaches from Numana.

Lago Fiastra

Lago Fiastra is an artificial lake located in the Monte Sibillini National Park. The route by car or motorcycle to Lago Fiastra is already beautiful, you drive along a winding road to this, stop along the way for the views. As soon as you arrive at the lake you can see from the road the lake’s special emerald blue/green color. A beautiful lake for swimming or water sports, such as kayaking and paddleboarding. But also a wonderful, relaxing place to just lie on a towel and enjoy the view. Do you enjoy hiking? Around the lake are hiking trails through the woods, enjoyment guaranteed.

Le Marche wordt vaak het best bewaarde geheim van Italie genoemd.

Waarom wij voor deze regio kozen

Other cities in the region

Angeli Sognanti Offida cars

Offida, the city of lace clothespins

Upon entering this charming town, you immediately see what Offida is famous for: a large bronze statue depicting three lace clothespins. Not coincidentally, an old woman, a younger woman and a girl are depicted; the tradition continues to be handed down from one generation to the next.

The region is known for the olive all’ascolana (fried olives with a meat filling) and the delicious Rosso Piceno wine. But Offida is best known for lace-making or, as it is called here, il merletto a tombolo.

Tip: If you visit Offida on Thursday mornings, you can go to the lively weekly market. And every year in early July, Offida hosts the Settimana del Merletto, a week devoted entirely to lace-making.

Ascoli Piceno

It may not be the most beautiful or the most artistic of all Italian cities, but Ascoli Piceno is without a doubt the most relaxed city in the area.

The people of Ascoli Piceno boast that their city is older than Rome. It was the Piceni who settled in the 9th century v. Chr. settled. They were led here by a woodpecker (in Latin: picus). The woodpecker is still the symbol of the city today. Later, the Romans took over the city and expanded it. From those times still date the remains of a theater and a well-preserved stone bridge over the Tronto River. Piazza del Popolo, the salon of Italy.

No matter which way you walk into the city, you inevitably end up in Piazza del Popolo through one of its eight entrances. Piazza del Popolo is a magnificent square surrounded by beautiful medieval buildings and arcades. Here you will also find the famous Caffè Meletti, where you can enjoy a delicious cup of coffee or aperitif.

Fermo

Fermo has a long history. Walking to the Piazza del Popolo, once you have parked your car at the bus station (free parking), taken the elevator, escalator, elevator and again the elevator to arrive at the Piazza through the square at the post office, you immediately see and feel the history of this city.

Under the arcades you will find plenty of cozy terraces to sit down. For the best coffee in Fermo, head to Foschi caffe from where you can watch the goings-on in town. Tip: visit the Palazzo dei Priori, and the Civica Romolo Spezioli library. There you will find an impressive book collection. The magnificent Teatro Dell’ Aquila and the Cisterne romane with underground drinking water tanks is also highly recommended.

End the visit in Piazza del Popolo with an aperitivo at one of the cozy terraces in the square or go enjoy the fine dishes and delicious wines at Petit Gourmet with the always enthusiastic owner and his wife, Stefano and Stefania. Or go for the tasting menu at Enoteca Bar a Vino and be surprised by the very friendly host, who, by the way, is also a sommelier.

Grottammare & Grottammare Alta

Grottammare is among the “I borghi più belli d’Italia,” or the most beautiful villages in Italy.

Due to a Mediterranean climate, palm and orange trees grow extremely well here and can be found along the beautiful promenade. For more than twenty-two years, this coastal strip with its wide clean beaches and seawater has been awarded the “Blue Flag. In summer it is pleasantly Italian crowded, but also in spring and autumn it is pleasant when the landscape is colored with an enchanting palette of colors.

Grottammare Alta

Between the fresh sea air and orange blossom, there is another discovery. Indeed, just above Grottammare against the hills lies Grottammare Alta. From here you can enjoy a fascinating view of a turquoise Adriatic Sea and you will find extraordinary historical sights.
In the narrow streets are many restaurants with something for everyone. Our recommendation? Vineria M481, where the always friendly host “Belle di Pepe” welcomes you and serves tasty dishes. Try to reserve a table on the balcony terrace for stunning views of the sea and rising moon.
